多伦多市选选民注意事项

来源:多伦多市政府   更新:2018-10-04 20:26:09   作者:多伦多市政府

Today, the City of Toronto announced its plans for the 2018 municipal election, including when to vote, how eligible voters can confirm they are on the voters' list, and accessible services such as Voter Assist Terminals at voting locations.

"This year, 501 candidates have been certified – 35 candidates for mayor, 242 candidates for councillor and 224 trustee candidates for the four school boards," said Ulli S. Watkiss, City Clerk. “Although this has been a challenging lead-up to the election, I am very proud of our team and am confident that we have taken the necessary steps to successfully administer the 2018 municipal election."

All electors are encouraged to use the City's online service MyVote, to:
• find their ward and map
• see the candidates running in their ward
• find out if they are on the voters’ list
• learn where and when to vote
• view and print their Voter Information Card
• find accessibility information about their voting place
• view a sample of a ballot.

MyVote can be found at http://www.toronto.ca/elections/myvote.

Advance voting will run for five continuous days from Wednesday, October 10 to Sunday, October 14 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with 50 locations across Toronto (two in each ward).

Advance voting will also be available at City Hall, regardless of where electors live in Toronto.

On Election Day, Monday, October 22, voting locations will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The City of Toronto is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities have equal access to elections through the use of accessible voting equipment, enabling electors with disabilities to mark their ballot independently. The Voter Assist Terminal (VAT) will be available at all advance vote locations, and at two locations in each ward on election day. The list of voting locations with a VAT is available at http://www.toronto.ca/elections. Electors who want to use the VAT on election day are asked to call Election Services at 416-338-1111.

To vote in Toronto's municipal election an elector must be:
• a Canadian citizen
• at least 18 years old
• a resident in the city of Toronto
• a non-resident of Toronto, but they or their spouse own or rent property in the City
• not prohibited from voting under any law.

Electors may only vote once in the Toronto municipal election regardless of how many properties they own or rent within the city. Electors must vote in the ward where they live.
