Voter Information Packages (VIPs) were recently sent via Canada Post to all eligible voters in Markham who are on the Municipal Voters' List. This will have all the information you need to cast your ballot during Voting Days (October 12 – 22), including your unique Online Voting PIN and online voting web address. You need to be on the Municipal Voters' List in order to vote in the 2018 Municipal Election.
If you did not receive a Voter Information Package (VIP) in the mail, you are not on the list. If you registered, updated or verified your information on the Municipal Voters’ List recently, please allow four days for your Voter Information Package (VIP) to be processed and delivered.
If you were on previous Provincial or Federal voters’ lists, it does not mean you are on the Municipal Voters’ List. Here is how you can register your information in order to vote:
Only eligible voters can cast their vote in the 2018 Markham Municipal Election. If you are not an eligible voter and have received a Voter Information Package (VIP), contact Markham's Voter Assistance Helpline at vote@markham.ca or 905.477.7000 x8683 (VOTE) to be removed from the list.
One person, one vote. It's the law. If convicted of voter fraud, you may face one of the following penalties as per the Municipal Elections Act, 2016:

Jail time up to six months
If you see something suspicious say something. Voters are reminded never to share their Online Voting PIN. Municipal staff, candidates and law enforcement officials should never ask you for it. If you lose your Voter Information Package (VIP) containing your Online Voting PIN, contact the Voter Assistance Helpline immediately to have it deactivated and be issued a new one.
Check and make sure you’re on the Municipal Voters’ List so you can skip the lines during Voting Days. Vote online anywhere, anytime from October 12 – 22 using a computer or mobile device. In-person voting opportunities are also available at 12 Voter Assistance Centres across Markham.
