她的这幅画作和她的另外两幅画作“Disclosing”、“Memory and Time”曾于2013年4月参加了在多伦多大学Regis College举行的"一对一:创意冥思" 展览(One on One: Creative Meditations)。

Eight artists from varied religious and cultural backgrounds respond to conference themes highlighted by the International Academy of Practical Theology for its April conference at Emmanuel College, University of Toronto. Held in conjunction with the IAPT conference, the exhibition is also part of the Regis in the Arts annual Easter Exhibition and features painting and sculpture by: Muhammad Irfan Aziz, Linda Chen, Alexey Dreva, David Holt, Tai Kim, Florica Laslau, Michael Stoeber, and Angela Tamari.

Artistic Contributions to "Complex Identities in a Shifting World: One God, Many Stories"

Toronto is the epitome of a multicultural metropolis.  The diversity offered here makes it special, even beyond the contemporary Canadian context.  This city gives the IAPT conference, Complex Identities in a Shifting World: One God, Many Stories, a remarkable setting.

Eight local Canadian artists have been invited to come together to augment this theological event by responding visually to some of the conference issues.  They represent a rich variety of cultures, faiths, and art media.  At the show, they plan to briefly contextualize their individual works in terms of the conference issues.  Their intentions include: visualizing the co-existence of faith traditions; exploring personal identity in its temporal and physical dimensions; appraising the impact of distinct cultures on human life; visiting the effects of immigration on a host nation; and invoking diverse and complementary spiritualities in creative dialogue.

Art is a common language of all.  By reflecting on conference issues through drawing, painting, and sculpture, these artists hope to transcend differences of age, origin, tradition, and media.  They aim to engage, connect, and communicate theologically and spiritually.

Muhammad Irfan Aziz is a Muslim from Pakistan whose medium is sculpture.

Linda Chen is from Taiwan, where she grew up within Taoist, Buddhist, and Confucian traditions.  She is painting for this exhibit.

From Berlarus, Alexey Dreva’s faith background is Orthodox Christian, with current interests also in Hinduism.  He will be contributing both a sculpture and painting to the exhibit.

Originally a Mormon from Salt Lake City, Utah, David Holt, a painter, is Anglican with interests in Buddhism.

Tai Kim was born in Seoul, Republic of Korea.  A Zen Buddhist with interests in the Rastafari movement, she will be painting for this exhibit.

Also contributing paintings, with family connections both to Roman Catholicism and Protestantism, Florica Laslau is from Arges, Romania.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, but also of Acadian ancestry, Michael Stoeber has a Roman Catholic background with current interests in some of the spiritualities of India.

Angela Tamari is a Christian convert to Judaism from Kirkland Lake, Ontario who will also be both painting and sculpting for this exhibit.

"Our bodies—to every hair and bit of skin—are received by us from our parents, and we must not presume to injure or wound them.”

—This is the beginning of Xiao Jing, The Classics of Filial Piety, in Confucianism.  Piety towards parents and ancestors has been the golden rule for Chinese people for over a thousand years.  It seems to be fading away in modern Chinese society, especially in the encounter with the West.  Men or women, young or old, want to be the master of their own bodies, with more authority, independence, openness, and freedom.  Traditional disciplines of Confucius are not an invisible cross for them to carry any more.  "Disclosing" is about this change in orientation and its consequences.

My ivory silk blouse has been with me from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and now, Toronto, for 30 years.  It has become a shield to me in some ways—body armour.  After 16 years of life in Canada, as a first generation immigrant, I realize the changing of job, culture, and language cannot demolish the root of personality and identity. The wiser I've become, the further I've travelled, the longer journal I've written, this body armour has gradually penetrated me as veins of thoughts and holds me still.
