City of Toronto residents asked to help keep streets safe by pruning shrubs and reporting vegetation growth near traffic signs
The City of Toronto is reminding residents to prune trees and shrubs on their property to ensure that they don't impact roads and sidewalks, keeping travel routes passable for those with mobility issues.
"We are asking residents to help by making sure they take action on their own properties to ensure that all road and sidewalk users can be safe when travelling in our communities," said Councillor Jaye Robinson (Ward 25, Don Valley West), Chair of the City's Public Works and Infrastructure Committee.
The City of Toronto is also asking residents to contact 311 to report locations where vegetation growth is obstructing traffic signals and stop signs. The City will dispatch staff to clear the obstruction.
Residents can assist City staff with the work by providing the nearest cross streets or the precise geographic location of the vegetation that needs to be cleared (i.e. northbound on Warden Avenue approaching Lawrence Avenue).
