Safety Tips to Help Keep You Safe during Severe Weather

来源:Loving Sister   更新:2014-09-06 13:57:27   作者:Loving Sister
The University of Waterloo reminds students, faculty and staff of the following safety tips from the Government of Ontario to help keep you safe during severe weather:

  • Take shelter in an enclosed building or vehicle if you hear thunder.
  • Avoid water, high ground, isolated trees, power lines and picnic shelters.
  • If no shelter is available, go to a low-lying area away from tall, isolated objects. Crouch with your feet together. Do not lie down.
If you are indoors:

  • Stay away from windows, skylights and glass doors.
  • Avoid running water, as lightning can enter through pipes and plumbing.
  • Remain indoors for at least 30 minutes after thunder ends.
  • Seek shelter in a basement or interior room if conditions worsen.
