CCNC-SJ is calling for the following:
-
As part of its deliberations of the National Anti-Racism Strategy, the federal government should include measurable and concrete actions to address anti-Asian hate.
-
As well, a National Anti-Racism Act should be enacted that will provide an accountability framework to mandate comprehensive government anti-racism actions to be informed by the collection and utilization of disaggregated data that reflects the experiences of diverse communities based on race and intersectional identities such as gender, gender identities, sexual orientation, religion, disabilities, and others.
-
Dedicated efforts including funding and other supports are needed from the governments to facilitate the reporting of hate incidents and victims of hate, including victims who may choose to not report to police.
-
Finally, communities are still waiting for federal government legislation and actions to combat the proliferation of hate through social media, as well as the strengthening of the Employment Equity Act.
