CHARGES LAID FOLLOWING HOME INVASION IN NEWMARKET
Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit have laid charges and continue to seek information following a home invasion that occurred in the Town of Newmarket.
On Monday, August 26, 2019, shortly before 8 a.m., police were called to a residence on Sheldon Avenue, which is in the area of Davis Drive and Longford Drive for a report of a man seen in a vehicle pointing a gun at a residence. Officers attended and located a woman inside the residence as well as a man who was suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The residence was also filled with the odour of pepper spray and a canister was located.
Investigators have determined that a home invasion robbery had occurred. Two men entered the residence and attempted to rob the occupants. An altercation occurred and the suspects fled. Subsequent search warrants revealed that the occupants of the home were in possession of a shotgun, handgun and pepper spray. They have been arrested and charged.
The additional suspects were later located at a residence on Williamson Family Hollow in the Town of Newmarket. They have also been arrested and charged.
