The City of Toronto is proud to present "Helen Lucas: Roots to the Present," the first retrospective of this internationally known Canadian artist at Todmorden Mills' Papermill Gallery. The exhibition, which runs from February 8 to March 5, is part of the City's TO Canada with Love program.
"This exhibit is an exceptional tribute to the talent and longevity of this important artist," said Councillor Mary Fragedakis (Ward 29 Toronto-Danforth).
Lucas is one of Canada's most distinguished and beloved floral painters, known for her vibrant colours and large-scale, vivid depictions of flowers. This exhibit of paintings, drawings and lithographs displays her work from the 1960s to the present.
Originally from Saskatchewan and now living in King City, Ontario, Lucas has exhibited in multiple countries. More information about her is available at http://helenlucas.com/.
Helen Lucas: Roots to the Present is presented in partnership with the Clara Thomas Archives and Special Collections at York University.
