Harbourfront Centre proudly announces the return of Veg Food Fest, September 9–11, North America’s largest vegetarian food festival. Produced by the Toronto Vegetarian Association, the festival celebrates 32 years of delicious food with a weekend-long exploration of dishes from local restaurants, cafés and bakeries. With over 100 vendors and exhibitors, this festival will change what you think is possible of vegetarian and vegan food!
From Japanese rice balls (onigiri) to authentic Indian curries, there will be a variety of food on hand to suit any palate. Treat your taste buds on Friday with appetizing cooking demonstrations, including Viet-Style Vegan Comfort Food with Lisa Le – scrumptious Vietnamese dishes that are sure to ‘wow’. A fan favourite returns on Saturday as Island Explosion: Kinder Colada & Rasta Pasta with Taymer Mason is back with fresh and imaginative recipes bursting with authentic Caribbean flavour, and learn how to eat for optimal health with How Not To Die with Dr. Michael Greger, author of the New York Times bestseller of the same name. Compassionate Kids Toronto has the youngsters covered with Fun and Easy Cooking for Compassionate Kids, an interactive cooking demonstration that will turn tykes into top vegetarian chefs in no time. Then on Sunday, a special treat rounds out an exciting weekend: A Sweet End to Summer with MasterChef Mary Berg, a demonstration by MasterChef Canada’s 2016 winner. Berg gives a flavourful master class on vegan cooking, including how to make gourmet tofu cheesecake!
Harbourfront Centre will also be packed with some of the best vegetarian and vegan food vendors in Canada. Enjoy delicious foods that are also organic, animal-free, plant-based and sustainable with APieCalypse Now! Vegan Pizza and Bakery and Boon Burger Cafe. Then grab dessert with Nana Shake, all natural vegan frozen desserts that are sure to please the crowd.
“Veg Food Fest is about bringing people together through their support of sustainable and healthy eating,” says Marah Braye, CEO of Harbourfront Centre. “It will showcase dishes you never thought could be vegetarian, while turning old favourites into new delights. Sweet or savoury, this festival has something for everyone to enjoy.”
