Local food, local music – Lovin' Local Food Fest announces lineup
Toronto's Lovin' Local Food Fest will take place Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Yonge-Dundas Square. The second annual event features the fare of local restaurants, food trucks, breweries and wineries along with a full day of entertainment. Admission is free.
Festival highlights include celebrity chefs and cooking demonstrations, a food fight with celebrity judges, the announcement of Toronto's signature dish, live music, workshops and demonstrations, a pollinator garden display, a green street market and a family-fun zone.
"Local food contributes to a strong local economy and improves our resilience as a city," said Councillor Michelle Holland (Ward 35 Scarborough Southwest), Chair of Parks and Environment Committee. "I encourage Toronto residents to check out the festival for a taste of some of Toronto's best local food and music."
"A connection to local food is key to creating healthy communities in Toronto. The festival provides a wonderful opportunity for our homegrown artists and chefs to share their talents and tastes with us, their neighbours and friends," said Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam (Ward 27 Toronto Centre-Rosedale). "Come on out and celebrate what Toronto has to offer. Local food is for everyone to enjoy!"
