Nominations close June 10 for the July 25 by-elections
On July 25, by-elections will be held for the offices of:
• Councillor, City Ward 2
• Trustee, Toronto District School Board Ward 1 (City Wards 1 and 2)
• Trustee, Toronto District School Board Ward 5 (City Wards 9 and 10)
The last day to file or withdraw a nomination is Friday, June 10 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Election Services office at City Hall, 100 Queen St. W., first floor north.
The July 25 by-elections advance vote will be held on Saturday, July 16 and Sunday, July 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Election Day is Monday, July 25 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
To be eligible to run for Councillor, candidates must be:
• a Canadian citizen; and
• at least 18 years of age; and
• a resident of the City of Toronto; or
• an owner or tenant of land in the City of Toronto, or the spouse of the owner or tenant; and
• not legally prohibited from voting; and
• not disqualified by any legislation from holding office.
To be eligible to run for Trustee, Toronto District School Board, candidates must be:
• a Canadian citizen; and
• at least 18 years of age; and
• a resident in the area of the jurisdiction of the TDSB; and
• a public school supporter; and
• not legally prohibited from voting; and
• not disqualified by any legislation from holding office
Candidates must provide the following:
• completed Nomination Paper; and
• proof of qualifying address within the City of Toronto, and
• $100 nomination filing fee (cash, credit card, debit, certified cheque or money order made payable to “Treasurer, City of Toronto”).
