Carolyn Bennett was first elected to the House of Commons in 1997 and was re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2015, representing Toronto– St. Paul’s.
Dr. Bennett has previously served as the Critic for Public Health, Seniors, Persons with Disabilities, the Social Economy, and Aboriginal Affairs. In 2003, she was named Minister of State for Public Health.
Prior to her election, Dr. Bennett was a family physician and a founding partner of Bedford Medical Associates in downtown Toronto. She was also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Her fight to save the Women’s College Hospital of Toronto inspired her to enter politics.
Carolyn is an active representative of Toronto–St. Paul’s. She has organized over 75 town halls, quarterly meetings, information sessions on parliamentary affairs, and special activities for her constituents since 2000. She and her office have assisted hundreds of constituents with their immigration, tax, pension or employment insurance concerns.
She speaks passionately about Canada and citizens’ participation in the democratic process. She advocates for health, the environment, women’s involvement in politics and persons with disabilities; She is also known for her strong support of Israel.
In 1986, Dr. Bennett received the Royal Life Saving Society Cross – a Commonwealth award recognizing her more than 20 years of distinguished service. In 2002, she was the recipient of the coveted EVE Award for contributing to the advancement of women in politics and in 2003 received the first ever CAMIMH Mental Health Champion Award. Carolyn was the first recipient of the National Award of Excellence for Outstanding Leadership and Dedication to Injury Prevention and Safety promotion in Canada.

She and her husband, Peter O’Brian, a successful Canadian producer, have two sons, Jack and Ben.

Jody Wilson-Raybould is a lawyer, advocate, and leader among British Columbia’s First Nations. As a former Regional Chief of the BC Assembly of First Nations, Jody brings extensive experience in law, public service, and First Nations governance to Cabinet.
After being called to the Bar in 2000, Jody began her legal career working as a provincial crown prosecutor in Vancouver. She later served as an advisor at the BC Treaty Commission, a body established to oversee treaty negotiations between First Nations and the Crown. In 2004, Jody was elected as Commissioner by the Chiefs of the First Nations Summit.
Since being elected Regional Chief of the BC Assembly of First Nations in 2009, Jody has devoted herself to the advancement of First Nations governance, fair access to land and resources, as well as improved education and health care services. She was re-elected as Regional Chief in 2012 and held responsibilities for governance and nation building on the Assembly of First Nations Executive. She has previously been involved with the Chiefs Committee on Claims and chaired the Comprehensive Claims joint working group.
An active volunteer in her community, Jody has served as a Director for Capilano College, the Minerva Foundation for BC Women, the Nuyumbalees Cultural Centre, and the National Centre for First Nations Governance. She was also a director on the First Nations Lands Advisory Board and Chair of the First Nations Finance Authority. She is the recipient of the alumni award from the Minerva Foundation and the University of Victoria.
Jody is a descendant of the Musgamagw Tsawataineuk and Laich-Kwil-Tach peoples, which are part of the Kwakwaka’wakw and also known as the Kwak’wala speaking peoples. She is a member of the We Wai Kai Nation and is married to Dr. Tim Raybould.

For the past 18 years, Judy M. Foote has been dedicated to community service, working in several volunteer capacities with a variety of organizations, including the St. John’s Association for the Mentally Delayed and the Heritage Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador. In addition to this volunteer work, Ms. Foote served in several capacities for 15 years with the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF).
Ms. Foote was elected as the Member of the House Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador for the District of Grand Bank in 1996 and was re-elected in 2003. Premier Brian Tobin invited her to join his Cabinet as Minister of Development and Rural Renewal on March 14, 1996. Ms. Foote subsequently held the positions of Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, Minister of Education, and Minister of Industry, Trade and Rural Development.
Prior to her involvement in politics, Ms. Foote worked in television journalism with the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s public affairs program “Here & Now.” She has also been the Director of University Relations with Memorial University, and has worked in the Newfoundland and Labrador Premier’s Office as the Director of Public Relations, a position she held for seven years.
Ms. Foote holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education from Memorial University. In 1977, she moved to Sarnia, Ontario, to attend Lambton College, graduating with an Honours Diploma in Radio and Television Broadcast Arts.
Ms. Foote and her husband Howard have three children: Carla, Jason and Heidi.

Chrystia Freeland was first elected as the Member of Parliament for Toronto Centre in a by-election in November 2013, and then as the Member of Parliament for University–Rosedale in October 2015. She was the Critic for International Trade in 2014.
She was born in Peace River, Alberta, received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University, and continued her studies on a Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University.
After cutting her journalistic teeth as a Ukraine-based stringer for the Financial Times, The Washington Post, and The Economist, Chrystia went on to wear many hats at the Financial Times, including deputy editor, UK news editor, Moscow bureau chief, Eastern Europe correspondent, editor of its weekend edition, and editor of FT.com.
Between 1999 and 2001, she served as deputy editor of The Globe and Mail, before becoming a managing editor at the Financial Times. In 2010, Chrystia joined Canadian-owned Thomson Reuters as editor-at-large. She most recently worked as Managing Director and Editor of Consumer News. Chrystia was a weekly columnist for The Globe and Mail, writing extensively about the challenges facing the middle class.
Her books include Sale of a Century: The Inside Story of the Second Russian Revolution (2000) and Plutocrats: The Rise of the New Global Super-Rich and the Fall of Everyone Else (2012).
Chrystia is married and a proud mother of three children.
Dr. Jane Philpott is a family physician and was the Chief of the Department of Family Medicine at Markham Stouffville Hospital. She was also an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto’s Department of Family and Community Medicine.
Between 1989 and 1998, Jane worked in the West African country of Niger, where she practised general medicine and helped to develop a training program for village health workers. In 2004, she founded Give a Day to World AIDS, which has raised over $4 million to help those affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Jane also served as co-curator of TEDxStouffville, a video and speakers series, and was family medicine lead at the Toronto Addis Ababa Academic Collaboration, where she was instrumental in helping Addis Ababa University develop Ethiopia’s first training program for family medicine.
Jane has raised four children alongside her husband, CBC Radio journalist Pep Philpott. She is particularly active in her Community Mennonite Church, where she is a song leader for the congregation.

Marie-Claude Bibeau was born, raised and educated in Sherbrooke. She started her career at the Canadian International Development Agency, working in Ottawa-Gatineau and Montréal, as well as in Morocco and Benin, in Africa. Marie-Claude eventually settled in the riding of Compton–Stanstead to raise her family, work, and volunteer in the community.
Marie-Claude is an experienced businesswoman and, for the last 15 years, has co-owned Camping de Compton—a successful tourism business that has won numerous awards. She was also the director of accreditation for the Sherbrooke 2013 Canada Summer Games and the Executive Director of the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science.
Active in her community, Marie-Claude was the founder and coordinator of the Regroupement des institutions muséales des Cantons-de-l’Est—an association of museums in the Eastern Townships. She is a former board member of Commerce Sherbrooke, Destination Sherbrooke, Animation Centre-ville and the Société des musées québécois. She was also the secretary of the Compton revitalization committee, a member of the strategic planning committee of the regional county municipality of Coaticook, and chair of the governing board of École Louis-St-Laurent in Compton.
Marie-Claude holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a graduate diploma in Environmental Management from the Université de Sherbrooke.

A lawyer by training, Mélanie Joly is passionate about her city of Montréal and the power of positive politics.
Mélanie worked at two major law firms in Montréal before making the leap into communications, as a managing partner of the Montréal office of the international communications firm Cohn & Wolfe. Founder of Le Vrai Changement pour Montréal party, Mélanie ran for mayor of Montréal in 2013.
A firm believer in the importance of community involvement, Mélanie has served on numerous boards of directors, including those of the Régie des rentes du Québec, Fondation du CHUM, and Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal. She has also served as a spokesperson for Logis Rose-Virginie and as an ambassador for Herstreet.
Mélanie’s hard work has been recognized on many occasions. She was selected by Elle Québec as the 2008 Woman of the Year in the “up and coming” category, and was later honoured as the first Quebecer to receive the Arnold Edinborough Award for her involvement in the cultural community.
Mélanie holds an Honours Bachelor of Law from Université de Montréal and a Magister Juris in European and Comparative law from the University of Oxford.

As the former elected warden for the Regional County Municipality of Rocher Percé and owner of La Ferme du Petit Moulin, an outfitting operation, Diane Lebouthillier is profoundly familiar with the reality, strengths, and issues of Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine.
Before entering politics, Diane spent more than 23 years working with the clients of the Rocher Percé Health and Social Services Centre. As part of the team working for the late Georges Mamelonet, who was Member of the National Assembly for the Gaspé, she worked on many social issues.
In her community, Diane has not hesitated to give her time to a variety of organizations. She served on the Board of Governors of Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, a general and vocational college, and chaired the boards of directors of Réseau collectif Gaspésie Les Îles and Transport adapté et collectif des Anses. Diane was also the Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Les Ateliers Actibec 2000 inc.
Diane is the proud mother and grandmother of three adult sons and one grandson. She earned her Bachelor of Social Work from the Université de Moncton, and in 2013, she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Royal Canadian Legion for services rendered.

Catherine McKenna was the Executive Director of a non-profit organization that engages emerging Canadian leaders in public policy discussions. Prior to that, Catherine co-founded and was executive director of the Canadian Lawyers Abroad charitable organization. Catherine has practised law at leading firms in both Canada and Indonesia, focusing on international trade, competition, investment and constitutional issues. She was senior counsel on the Right Honourable Antonio Lamer’s review of Canada’s military justice system. She was also a legal advisor on treaty negotiations with the United Nations peacekeeping mission in East Timor. She taught at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs and was a board member at the Trudeau Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies.
While active internationally, Catherine remains a particularly active member of her local community. She is the past Vice-President of the Glebe Community Association and has served as a board member of the Elizabeth Fry Society of Ottawa and the Good Morning Creative Arts and Preschool.

As a geoscientist and former member of the Manitoba Legislature, MaryAnn Mihychuk possesses a significant amount of both legislative and industry-related experience. Elected as a member of Manitoba’s government in 1995, MaryAnn served as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Mines and Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs during her nine years as an MLA.
MaryAnn has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Winnipeg and a Master’s in Geology from Brock University, and has worked in several capacities within Canada’s mineral industry. She was the founder of Women in Mining Canada as well as Women in Mining Manitoba, and was president of the latter. Recognized for her vision and leadership by the Manitoba Association of Engineers and Geoscientists, MaryAnn led the renewal of The Mines Act, which the industry rated as the best policy framework in the world.
In 2010, MaryAnn was one of two Jack Gallagher Visiting Geoscientists at the University of Manitoba, and she is the first-ever recipient of the 2012 Women in Mining Canada Trailblazer Award. Ever-active in her community, MaryAnn is a former trustee of the Winnipeg School Division, secretary of the Snow Lake Chamber of Commerce, and both a founder and member of West End Citizens on Patrol and the Orioles Literacy Program.
Maryam Monsef is a dedicated community organizer, former Peterborough mayoral candidate, and co-recipient of the YMCA’s Peace Medallion.
Maryam is widely recognized as one of Peterborough’s most influential people and represented her city in 2013 at the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. A passionate volunteer, Maryam has sat on the boards and committees of several high-profile organizations. She was the Vice-President of the YWCA of Peterborough and Haliburton Board of Directors, and a former director of the Ontario Public Interest Research Group, and of the New Canadians Centre—a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting immigrants, refugees, and other newcomers in the Peterborough and Northumberland regions. Maryam was the co-founder of the Red Pashmina Campaign, a grassroots initiative she started while at Trent University, which to date has successfully raised over $150,000 to help support women in Afghanistan.
Maryam has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Trent University, and speaks English, Farsi, and Dari.

A successful lawyer, dedicated volunteer, and Paralympic swimmer, Carla Qualtrough’s commitment to addressing inequality and championing diversity makes her a strong advocate for Delta.
Committed to equity and inclusion, Carla has practised human rights law at the federal and provincial levels. She chaired the Minister’s Council on Employment and Accessibility in British Columbia, and was an adjudicator with the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal. Carla has been visually impaired since birth.
Passionate about the power of sport and physical activity to change lives, Carla has volunteered locally, nationally, and internationally, including with the International Paralympic Committee and for the Toronto 2015 Pan and Parapan American Games. She has been President of the Canadian Paralympic Committee and Chair of the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada. Carla was on the Board of the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, and was Vice-Chair of the Delta Gymnastics Society. As an athlete, Carla won three Paralympic and four World Championship medals.
Carla has degrees in political science from the University of Ottawa and law from the University of Victoria. Among many awards for her work, she has been named one of Canada’s Most Influential Women in Sport six times, and received a Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.

Kirsty Duncan Minister of Science

Kirsty Duncan was an Associate Professor of Health Studies at the University of Toronto and the former Research Director for the AIC Institute of Corporate Citizenship at the Rotman School of Management. A renowned international speaker, she has lectured for such organizations as the National Geographic Society, the Government of Japan, and the Young Presidents’ Organization.
She sat on the Advisory Board for Pandemic Flu for the Conference Board of Canada, and the University of Toronto, and has helped organizations throughout Canada and the United States prepare for a possible flu pandemic. She sat on the boards of the Indigenous Cooperative on the Environment, the Scottish Studies Foundation, the St. Andrew’s Society of Toronto, and the Toronto Foundation for School Success. She co-chaired the 2006 Fraser Mustard Awards Gala in support of student nutrition and in October 2007, she chaired “Feeding Toronto’s Hungry Students Week.”
Ms. Duncan is passionate about helping build resilient communities and taking action on climate change. She has helped provide food, shelter and education to Toronto’s youth, and served on the Nobel Prize-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Ms. Duncan holds a doctorate in geography from the University of Edinburgh.

Patty Hajdu Minister of Status of Women

Patty Hajdu is well known and well respected within her community for her work on substance use issues, harm reduction, housing, and public health. Patty was the Executive Director at Shelter House, and is completing her Master of Public Administration degree at the University of Victoria. She is also the author and was a key member of the Implementation Panel for the Thunder Bay Drug Strategy. In addition, she was on the Community Advisory Board for the Homelessness Partnering Strategy.
Patty served as Chairperson for the Drug Awareness Committee of Thunder Bay. She was formerly on the Board of Directors for Alpha Court Mental Health Services and the Ontario Literacy Coalition. Patty has had a variety of her written work published, including several op-eds in The Chronicle Journal on the issue of homelessness.
Patty has lived in Thunder Bay–Superior North since 1980. She and her two sons currently call Thunder Bay home. In addition to her work on mental health and addictions, Patty is also a talented graphic designer, and she formerly served as Creative Director for a marketing firm. Patty holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from Lakehead University

Bardish Chagger 小生意和旅游部部长（Minister of Small Business and Tourism）

Bardish Chagger worked at the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre, an organization that assists new Canadians as they transition to full participation in our community’s life. As the Special Projects Coordinator, Bardish planned and coordinated the annual Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Festival in Victoria Park, bringing together community, cultural and business groups in Waterloo Region. She also worked with other agencies to offer an annual Global Skills Conference to introduce foreign-trained professionals to related professions and to find meaningful employment.
As Executive Assistant to former Kitchener-Waterloo Member of Parliament the Hon. Andrew Telegdi, Bardish coordinated both the Ottawa parliamentary and local constituency offices. She met regularly with residents of the community to address their concerns and assist them in their dealings with government bureaucracy. She helped constituents obtain visas and passports and solve their problems with employment insurance, pensions, income tax, immigration and other issues with the federal government.
For more than two decades, Bardish has volunteered with a wide variety of community organizations. She has recently been a board member with the Workforce Planning Council of Waterloo Wellington Dufferin and also with MT Space, a professional, not-for-profit theatre company and arts and culture organization located in Waterloo Region. She is an active volunteer with Interfaith Grand River, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Waterloo Rotary Club. Rotary’s principal motto of ‘Service Above Self’ is an accurate reflection of Bardish’s passion for civic engagement and she believes that we get out of our community what we put into our community.
Bardish Chagger has lived in Waterloo all her life. In 2004, she graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science degree. Bardish is the recipient of the Waterloo Region Record “40 under 40” award.
